The springs are home to several natural pools filled with pristine clear waters, and there are numerous walking trails that crisscross the area. If you’re up for a challenge, you must plan a trip out to Wind River Hot Springs. Located just north of the Oregon-Washington border near Carson, this set of two primitive Washington state hot springs creates an opportunity for adventure seekers in late summer when the river water is low enough to cross. The reward is an invigorating soak in naturally heated mineral waters. Due to its tricky access, you’ll likely be one of the few visitors at the pools. The two natural bedrock pools are each large enough to comfortably fit groups of four or five. One pool offers revitalizing warmth at 105°F and the other maintains an invigorating 102°F — all perfectly blended with fresh water from Wind River.
