Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. It’s a holiday that makes you think of romance, bouquets of red roses, candlelit dinners and chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate. Make the holiday special and pair deep dark delicious chocolate with some ruby red Washington wines.
Yakima, in the heart of Washington wine country, has a special event on President’s Day weekend February 15-18. Over 30 wineries in and around Yakima are offering special Red Wine and Chocolate events throughout the weekend. Hyatt Vineyards offers a horse drawn carriage tour along with the tasting. Desert Wind Winery has a Sweetheart Diner on Feb. 15 and J. Bell Cellars is offering a Valentine’s Dinner and Jazz night on Feb. 16.
Yakima is a scenic 2.5-hour drive from Seattle and only 2 hours from Walla Walla.
Woodinville is the heart of the wine scene close to Seattle. With over 110 wineries and tasting rooms, there is a lot to explore here. Dive into the wine scene by exploring the four unique districts in Woodinville: The Warehouse District, The Hollywood District, The West Valley District and The Downtown District.
On Feb. 16, Silver Lake Winery is offering a Wine and Chocolate Tasting from noon to 5:00 pm.
On Feb. 9, visit Chateau Ste. Michelle for their winery event, Speak To Me in Chocolate Tasting Experience. It is held in the theater at noon, 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm and again on Feb. 10 at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
Need a little island time? Visit Whidbey Island for their Red Wine & Chocolate (and Spirits) Tour Feb. 9-10 or Feb. 16-17. Four local wineries and 2 distilleries are part of this 2-weekend event.
